You may try to put a .profile file in your nokia's homedir (not the  
one given in open/save dialogs which is in fact ~/MyDocs) with this  
in it:

export GST_PLUGIN_PATH=/path/to/your/plugin/folder

and then a small gst-register in a X terminal should do it fine (it  
also should work with a reboot).
