And it did --- TRAILING WHITESPACE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE !!! After whitespace removal I have icon on extras menu. When I try to launch my program there nothing happens (in adition to system window telling running my program). There is probably some magic involved and I just have to make my program more compliant. Now that is easy as I do not have to wonder this problem anymore... Launching from XTerm also gives the icon to the left toolbar so this part is now OK too. Thanks a lot kiittää ja kumartaa tackar och pockar Maemo Tutorial should be updated to emphasize this fact (i.e. trailing whitespace in .desktop (and .service?) file breaks it so that not more developers get hang with this problem for several hours (not to mention days!!!)
