We need to offer a complete development platform suiting at least the most wanted needs and we want to support the completion of the missing pieces. Said that, the main elements to consider are: - Development via Scratchbox vs development models bypassing SB - SB vs SB2 It's not a yes/no white/black thing. I believe there is a case for everybody but we need to set the priorities and then provide the menu of development tools. There are very interesting things going on at the moment Python development is getting in shape, the QEMU/emulation front is progressing, Mamona http://www.vivi.eng.br/ is arriving with fresh ideas, let's see what the Java & Ruby approached might bring as well, then we have the IDEs... Several pieces moving around, we need to consider all those and come up with a sensible strategy, and results. All this work is for you guys.
