Sometimes silicon suppliers don't want to disclosure any source code cause major part of their offering is dependant on a software device driver. Shifting more low-level functionality to run as software device driver loads the CPU and memory heavily. Moreover, someone can wonder about the real value that is behind supplier's silicon solution.
