Again, I really thinkg the basic functionality of a .install file is a
good thing and doesn't contradict Debian practices at all.

The ability to easily add repositories should not be needed in a
Debian-like system, but for us it was pretty much necessary to survive
in the beginning.  We (Nokia) couldn't have done the right things when
IT OS 2006 came out.  And we still have a hard time now.
