[maemo-developers] [maemo-developers] MMH project started

Hallo guys,

I have started a new project on the garage.maemo.org, MMH [1]

MMH stands for "Maemo Mail Handler" and it consists of a suite of open
source programs put together to provide a complete mail handling system.
MMH will also offer an integrate built-from-scratch user interface for
these tools.

I plan to integrate fetchmail [2], to retrieve mails from a remote mail
account (pop, imap with or without SSL etc), filter it using procmail
[3] and deliver it locally by means of a MDA (Mail Delivery Agent).
The choice of the MDA is still open, there are several possibilities and
I am considering using procmail itself as MDA (it should allow it).

Once that all these CLI (Command Line Interface) tools will work from
command line, I plan to develop a powerful interface for handling the
message.
The language I plan to use is Python 2.5 [4] for Maemo.
The UI will not directly manipulate the mailboxes, but I want to use
another CLI tool for that (and the UI will us it to handle mails): nmh [5].

Any contribution from anyone, ideas, comments, features, developers is
greatly welcome.

Please keep in mind that I am working on this stealing time to my job,
so let's hope the UI will not take too much time and that many people
will be willing to help.
