Yes :) The included scripts are also meant as an example, it's not that
easy to setup from scratch. Now you can build, and more importantly,
package the layouts without needing to know the details. I hope by
providing this we won't see too many standalone compiled vkb files that
ordinary end users wouldn't be able to install.

And if you want to create and distribute many layouts at once the
autotools setup really pays off.
