I'll contact my local Nokia Repair center for advice (not holding out much hope but hey, worth a shot). My second N800 has a dodgey webcam (inverts image when rotated) but I'll also check it's touch screen.

Can you say if the hardware problem with the sensitivity of the touch screen is now fixed for new models? Or is it an ongoing issue? If you can't say - no problem. :)
