All, tonight I was at an event where someone demonstrated for me a sony-ericsson handset that uses bluetooth to communicate caller-id information to the sony-ericsson watch. I don't know what particular profile is being used for this application (obex push?) but it got me thinking that if the watch uses a standard protocol, then maybe this watch could be made to work with the Nokia N800 (lets call this product interoperability). The nice thing about the notification on a watch is that it is less obtrusive/disruptive when in a meeting than pulling out a mobile phone or, say an Internet tablet to see who is trying to contact you and whether or not you need to respond immediately. One complication for such a scenario is that the N800 would have to, using bluetooth, simultaneously communicate with a mobile phone (in the case where it is getting its Internet access from that source) and with the watch for the purpose of sending notifications. I am looking forward to the day when Nokia has a "killer" email client and having the notification of important emails on a watch like this (without having to purchase the corresponding handset from sony-ericsson) would be a nice feature. And hey, the watch on the surface is analog not digital so it would be doubly unobtrusive for the user. So the basic idea is this: Mobile phone with broadband access from whomever<===>Nokia 800 to get email<====>Analog watch with Bluetooth -- Best Regards, John Holmblad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
