> You should change the device name from UI (Control Panel/Bluetooth). > It's not hardcoded, it should use the device name from Bluetooth > Control Panel applet. If not, that's a bug. ok right, i have few remarks then 1) to me, using the bluetooth device name for wifi or usb networking sounds quite illogical. why can't udhcpc use the value contained in /etc/hostname ? 2) considering that i rarely use bluetooth, i had to enable it so that the "My device's name" edit box becomes enabled before i can change the device name: the workflow sounds wrong. 3) after having changed the bluetooth's device name, i had to disconnect/reconnect the wlan connection so that dns server gets notified of the new hostname but this sounds logical and acceptable. 4) the former bluetooth device name was "Nokia N800" which made my tablet be registered as "nokian800" in the dns server. it is documented nowhere (also it's kinda logical and acceptable) that spaces in the device name are dropped, which might confuse users and makes me think again that using bluetooth name as hostname is inappropriate. regards, g.
