[maemo-developers] Never Try to Outsmart the OS

All,

I have been unable to get the x11vnc and free42 apps to show up in the 
simple launcher menu. Unfortunately when I attempt to select either of 
these two apps the checkbox does not check. These are the only 2 apps on 
the simple launcher apps list, in fact, that do not check when the 
checkbox is selected.

Today I tried to circumvent this problem by installing the idea! 
launcher panel and, although, I can configure x11vnc and free42 as 
launchable apps using the idea! config applet, nonetheless, when I 
attempt to launch either app after completing the config and reloading 
idea!, nothing happens. I don't think it is a problem with the idea! 
launcher per se because I AM able to configure other apps (e.g. the 
hildon config applet) and get idea! to work correctly with such other apps.

This leads me to conclude that there must be some particular difference 
about how x11vnc and free42 interact with the OS to cause this 
difference in behavior. Does anyone have any leads here?
