Try it changing "$(MAKE) DESTDIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/spim install" for "$(MAKE) DESTDIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp install" Sometimes the temporary files go to debian/tmp and sometimes it go to debian/package_name.
