I'm not sure what exactly you want but blanking screen is possible via 
dsme somehow. At least there is dsmetest program ini initfs that 
communicates with dsme deamon and it can do it.

Just run
# chroot /mnt/initfs /usr/sbin/dsmetest
to see the help. -d 2 is the one to turn display. You may probably use 
strace to see what it is writing to /tmp/dsmesock
