I'm looking for available PDF libraries for Maemo to render contents of PDF. Thing is, I'd like it to be memory efficient and fast. Currently several books I've tried to open using either Evince (poppler) and built-in PDF reader just bogged the system. Is there no efficient way of handling PDF files so that it's not rendered into memory in it's entirety or with images rendered at lower quality to preserve memory? If such library exists I can write thin layer wrapper app on top of it to satisfy my needs. However something tells me it's not so simple. another thing I've noticed is that poppler is 0.6 on diablo whereas latest one released is 0.10. Not sure how much improvement 0.10 over 0.6. However I wonder if I poppler is up for the task at all. Should I just abandon the idea of straight PDF rendering on Maemo and convert documents into HTML instead and view them using browser?
