As we sort out the repository mess and get more packages moved into extras (and extras-devel) it would be useful to have any easy way to see what is in those repositories. As an example, we currently have a problem where gpe-calendar won't install if the claws repository is enabled by the user. The problem is a misconfiguration in the claws repository (it advertises a newer version of libgpg-error0 than any other repository but the file itself is missing, so packages dependent on libgpg-error0 cannot be installed). The actual problem should be reported in the claws bugzilla. But the reason for raising it here is that, in fact, libgpg-error0 is in extras! So, really, none of us should have copies of it in our own repositories at all! As we get more packages in extras and extras-devel we should all be moving away from including shared packages in our own repositories, even if we have good reasons for maintaining those repositories longer term (for example, I will retain my GPE daily SVN build repository -- those packages are not tested and would normally only be of interest to GPE developers). It might be easier to do this if there was an easier way to see what was in extras and extras-devel. Of course, it is always possibly to download the package file or use "apt-cache policy" to see if a package is there, but would it be possible to have an easier mechanism? For example, a page which just summarised the list of packages? or maybe a mailing list which sends out a message every time a new package is added? Graham
