I think that version is very old, if you do not use it for any specific
reason, maybe you could try the one here:

http://repository.maemo.org/pool/maemo4.1/free/libh/libhildon/

Makefile.in files are generated, you have to run autogen.sh first and
they will be generated. Although I would create the package with the
command: dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot.

You can check it opening a terminal in your device with diablo and
running:

 apt-cache show libhildon1

Package: libhildon1
...
Architecture: armel
Source: libhildon
Version: 2.0.4-1
...
