I followed the directions at http://ogg.garage.maemo.org/ to install ogg support for GStreamer. Success. Thanks for the very helpful package! One problem, though: Although my application now runs on the N800 and produces sound, the loudness of the sound is low. When I play the same soundfile using Media player, it is louder. I tried multiplying the volume parameter. When I multiply by 8.0, the volume is about right, but then the sound is distorted (overloading). Evidently, the gain is wrong somewhere else. I am using a playbin. Its packaging eliminates most places where I could have made a mistake. Has anyone used a playbin successfully on maemo with an ogg? Does anyone know whether Media player uses playbin? Any suggestions where the gain error could be? -- Jeffrey Barish
