Well the idea (not sure how real it is) was that doing the snapshot would be part of application initialization so the appliation itself could figure out pointer to bitmap of its own window and do a snapshow no matter if it is currently on the top or not. Also most applications do not take any input parameters so they look same on startup. Those that take parameters (like browser) either look same before they go to URL or maybe the snapshot should be done only if application is launched in some 'normal' way without using special parameters. As for fancy launcher with thumbnails, maybe this could be part of such launcher even now if the bitmap of specific window can be read via X API somehow. Frantisek
