[maemo-developers] developing xkb mappings

Yeah.. I managed to find quite a bit on xkb and did enough work to
get the basics of a Dvorak layout to work, but I'm still at a lost as
to how to get the raw keycodes. Neither "showkey" nor "xev" are
already in Maemo and there doesn't seem to be anything in the package
handler containing these. I've downloaded the source for xev, but I
don't have enough room on my tablet to install gcc and compile it. Any
chance you already have a binary available? ^_^
I've been trying to set up a scratchbox on my desktop machine, but
Ubuntu is being unbelievably frustrating with trying to get the
wireless network adapter to work properly. The machine I'm using
right now is using the amd64 build of Ubuntu and can't be used to run
scratchbox to compile binaries for the tablet (that I know of).
So much work to just get the buttons on a keyboard to do what
they're labelled as doing, eh? :)
