Hi, I have recently completed the initial phase of the port [2] of libferris [1] for maemo. This includes getting it to run and a few misc performance improvements. Phase 2 will be hildon support for some of the GUI apps and support for mounting specific things on the n810 device. The highest priority for the port now is improving dynamic linker performance either through making prelink.deb available or other means. Perhaps direct binding or improving hidden symbol markings for some libraries. The port uses the newer gcc and libstdc++ so you will have to extract stdc++.tar.bz2 and either overwrite your /usr/lib files with the newer version or use LD_PRELOAD with libferris apps for now. With specific tweaks I have managed to get indexing performance up to about 15-20 audio files per second. One major advantage being that libferris allows federated search, so you can search for files on your VPN from an n810 using an index that is on and maintained by your file server. But more information on setup and use in these cases will follow in other forums as time permits. The repository also includes things like boost and will probably include some more FUSE related packages in the future. Enjoy & happy virtual filesystems and indexing ;) [1] http://www.libferris.com/ [2] http://kvo.cs.uow.edu.au/~martin/maemo/repository/binary/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
