I'm the main responsible of this and I will accept any e-stones and e-tomatoes. :) - Before OSiM/Summit we internally had planned for November. This is why Peter got it in the slides and speech. - Working with Soumya, we saw that it could be better to wait a bit more to have a bit more solid alpha. But we didn't have details yet, so we didn't contest the November deadline. I mean, the weekly builds are being done already now so it is "only" about deciding when we have something useful enough to be published for the first time. - Right during OSiM Soumya told me some novelties happening in a nother corner of Nokia that would make us preferably wait a couple of weeks more (see below) but Berlin in those days was not the best moment to discuss about changes. This is why I said every time "alpha SDK this year" (see slide 8 at http://flors.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/osim-world-maemo-devsesh-slides/ ). And clever me forgot to insist on the detail to the rest of the team. - So what is the reason of the delay? Actually it's not because of a problem but because of a feature. By waiting a bit more we will get in the alpha SDK the same icons as used in the product. That is an old discussion from the Bora (or so) times that finally got a solution, saving the DP team from having to maintain a parallel set of "development icons" and giving to developers a better view of the real environment. So you see, not a big deal at the end. Nte also that this alpha SDK will be targeted specially to platform developers, the tough guys. Application developers will find a nice toy with an unstable API not really usable yet for solid development. ext Jamie Bennett wrote: >> On Tue, 2008-10-07 at 14:20 +0100, Andrew Flegg wrote: >> [2] Am I entirely mis-remembering?
