On a slightly related note (and sorry Marco, the answer is beyond me  
at the moment but it does raise a good point) I would like to see  
future, as in Maemo 5, applications use geoclue [1] as their main  
source of location based awareness. With the push for more  
standardized software, geoclue is up there as a 'must-use'.
