"a general audit" makes maemian (or rather the adapted lintian) the  
ideal candidate since that is what it is designed for. I hope I can  
get maemian to run over the repo soon. Then set up that audit in an  
automated fashion.

I like things like; does it build? Is it installable? Is it de- 
installable?

Then one can move to more fine grained approaches.
