How about a set of examples which are also templates which could be used which would have all the packaging and such, does all those "best practices", yet would be easy to swap out the original engine for one to do what a different app should accomplish. Generally I've seen a contradiction between the desire and what is actually there to be used. If it is "No, you have to do all this yourself", or "No, if you want to do X, you can't do it any easy way".
