Hi, Made some progress(I hope so) after receiving your suggestions.(I have pasted whatever problem I was having below in case someone's reading it for the first time) I logged in as 'muser' and then in the terminal window I typed 'su' and when asked for the password,I entered the system password which I used while logging in. Then, navigated to /scratchbox and then typed /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start The message displayed is-- Starting scratchbox:- binfmt_misc,mount [root at ....]: $ If I login as 'root' and after navigating to /scratchbox type /scrtachbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start,I get the same message as above. so,is that it(is scratchbox installed now)? or what I am thinking as improvement is actually some message about missing components or something worse :) I haven't yet extracted the devkits and toolchains till now.I guess, if things are ok,all I have to do is extract them into the scratchbox folder in '/'. Please guide me. Thanks for all the advice. regards,Avi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is what I had done(when I got an error message :Scratchbox is not properly setup) 1. Extracted scratchbox-core-1.0.8-i386.tar.tar to '/' (the folder is saved by the name 'scratchbox' in '/') 2.Extracted contents of scratchbox-libs-1.0.8-i386.tar.tar to 'scratchbox' (the folder in '/') 3. in Terminal: $cd /scratchbox $/scratchbox/run_me_first.sh Do you want to use sudo mode?[yes/no] (no) :- no Give the name of the scratchbox group(sbox):- (I didn't enter any name, clicked 'enter') The group 'sbox' doesn't exist.Would you like to create the group 'sbox'? [yes/no] (yes) :- yes Creating group 'sbox' Stopping scratchbox:umount,binfmt_misc Starting scratchbox:binfmt_misc,mount Now you should add one or more users with /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser $/scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser muser Add user 'muser' to group 'sbox'?[yes/no] (yes):-yes Scratchbox user account for 'muser' added. After completing this stage,I rebooted the system and logged in as 'muser' I navigated to /scratchbox and then typed 'groups' in the terminal window and, I was shown the group 'sbox' as the documentation says. But,when I type /scratchbox/login in the terminal window,I get the message - ERROR:Scratchbox not set up properly. (If i login as 'root' after rebooting and maneouvre to /scratchbox,I can't see the group 'sbox' when I type 'groups' in the terminal window) . ________________________________________ From: maemo-developers-bounces at maemo.org [maemo-developers-bounces at maemo.org] On Behalf Of Andre Klapper [aklapper at openismus.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2009 4:34 PM To: maemo-developers at maemo.org Subject: RE: need help installing maemo on fedora 8 Am Dienstag, den 03.02.2009, 16:21 +0530 schrieb Avishek_Sharma: > Hi again, > I tried 'sudo /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start' instead of > '/scratchbox/login' after rebooting and logining in as the user > 'muser' I had added to 'sbox 'group. > I was asked for a password( I didn't set one when I created > 'muser').So,I typed in the system password(the one which I used to > login as the user) but,I got the message > Password: > avi123 is not in the sudoers file. Other option: Run "su", enter your root password, go to your scratchbox directory, run the command itself (without sudo involved). andre -- Andre Klapper (maemo.org bugmaster) _______________________________________________ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers at maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers ________________________________ DISCLAIMER: This email (including any attachments) is intended for the sole use of the intended recipient/s and may contain material that is CONFIDENTIAL AND PRIVATE COMPANY INFORMATION.
