Perl modules or not, the Right Way is indeed adding generic hooks to
dpkg-buildpackage and the using those hooks to run maemo-optify.

However, I at least couldn't propose a nice general hook mechanisms for
dpkg-buildpackage right away.  Let's keep this as a parallel thing.
