[maemo-developers] Is there any Homescreen API available in Maemo 5?

For example, change UI completely, like add animated panels, which will
contain
widgets/apps, make own virtual desktop system etc. As I understand, it's
possible,
but I should rewrite core UI libraries, yes? Because on some other Nokia
smartphones it's
possible to write homescreen plugins without any changes in the system
libs.
