(Assuming that maemo-optify-deb > worked OK.) No, it's a bit different: you need to manually put a call to maemo-optify into the right place in debian/rules, and then re-upload. The maemo-optify-deb tool works on binary packages. The idea was to put it into the buildbot or the queue manager in front of extras-devel. That might be a bit intrusive and the current consensus seems to be that we don't use maemo-optify-deb at all.
