[maemo-developers] # of downloads per day on extras... are they real?

Does anybody have an idea of how many n900 were produced (and sold)? I don't
have any clue.are we talking about tens of thousands? Hundred thousands?
Millions? . 

 

Now that my applications are on extras I have access to the download
statistics and I am not quite sure what to make of the numbers. It seems
hard to believe that one of them (mycontacts) has had already over 39k
downloads or that in one single day it was downloaded almost 3 thousands
times.  Even more strange is to think that the other application (wakeonlan)
was downloaded over 6 thousand donwloads, hitting over 700 hundred/day in
more than one occasion. 

 

For the download statistics to be accurate we would have a much larger user
base than I can imagine. I would think that even between linux developers
the percentage of people that would download an application to wake computer
over lan using their phones should be pretty small. can't imagine 700 people
would find out about the application, understand what it does, find useful
and download it in one day.

 

Don't get me wrong I will be thrilled if the statistics are correct but I
want to make sure before celebrating :-)
