This happens when the OS detects filesystem corruption, which can happen
if you write something to it over USB using mass-storage mode and then
unplug without cleanly ejecting.

Connect the N900 via USB to a laptop and run a filesystem repair tool
(On Linux: umount && dosfsck -a; on Windows: uh, I forgot, I don't use
Windows...).
