736k diff. Also, the gzip appeared to be corrupt in the original version. But it wasn't just a corrupt gzip, as things clearly changed, such as:

diff -ruN armel-old/etc/maemo_version armel-new/etc/maemo_version
--- armel-old/etc/maemo_version 2009-12-02 06:02:44.000000000 -0700
+++ armel-new/etc/maemo_version 2010-01-13 01:47:42.000000000 -0700

+5.0update3 Fremantle

Perhaps they should do version numbering of the SDKs as well, such as:
maemo-sdk-rootstrap_5.0.3_armel.tgz
