Lot of work, there are other more important things to fix first.
Statistics are nice to look at every once in a while, other than that..
There is this saying about lies.

This is why we have app karma, which drives the Popular list.

If you look that design discussion up, you'll see that we use _relative_
download change, comments and ratings on a daily basis.

Popular certainly doesn't show the most downloaded apps.
