Hi!

I just dived into Maemo development. As a "warm-up" I thought to
translate a simple application from the garage. I like the application
"birthday" [1] so I started here. After pulling the sources via git as
described on [2] I just tried to compile the application:

In the applications root directory: (in the scratchbox)
  ./autogen.sh
  ./configure
  make
  make install

The english translation works as expected:
  run-standalone.sh src/birthday

To start the localized version I did:
  LANGUAGE="sk" run-standalone.sh src/birthday

Parts of the application appear translated while others are missing:

On the command line the following errors were reported:
birthday[13794]: GLIB WARNING ** Gtk - Failed to set text from markup
due to error parsing markup: Error on line 2 char 51: Invalid UTF-8
encoded text in name - not valid '
wdgt_va_da@)M, bude mať narodeniny za 119 dní'

See [5] for full output.

These bugs also appear after adding a german translation. I reproduced
this bug with a clear "Maemo Ubuntu Lucid Desktop SDK Virtual Image".

Most information I took from [3]. I also tried to unset LC_ALL as
described on [4].

What else can I do?

Sincerly,
Michael
