I would definitely like to be prepared. The pace at which Nokia is doing decisions with very long lasting consequences is frightening. At the moment I would not deny any possibility that they could pull the plug with very short notice time. I do not believe that they will do so any time soon, but I fear that we have to take the possibility that they could do it into account. In this sense we should not yet seek out for new governance, hosting, financing, etc. But we should be prepared for the day the announcement hits us. It would be great to have something like the Qt community contract in place, i.e. a formal agreement with Nokia what would happen with Maemo once they should decide against it. I am just afraid that we are now in a very bad negotiating position... In this sense I would also very much like to see that the community urges Nokia to free as much stuff as possible of Maemo5 (since it is of no direct commercial value for them anymore anyway) so that the platform can get a live on its own. And yes, I think this kind of discussion is also worth being spread to the developer list since the stability and availability of the platform itself is something that every developer is/should be concerned about. > Robin Burchell Cheers nils -- kernel concepts GbR Tel: +49-271-771091-12 Sieghuetter Hauptweg 48 D-57072 Siegen Mob: +49-176-21024535 http://www.kernelconcepts.de
