We have been developing the Internet Tablet Software Section for a few days now and today, we are formally announcing it so Developers can start uploading their apps.

What's different about the Internet Tablet Software Section?
We have seen the great effect on the quality of apps when the users
themselves provide direct feedback to the developers, and developers
themselves offer help and talk directly to the user community. This is
the main goal of the Internet Tablet Software section — to encourage
discussion between the users and developers.

How will it encourage discussion?
Everytime a new app is added to the database, a new thread is automatically created in the Downloads forum.
As with any new thread in Internet Tablet Talk, it gets automatically
posted on the main page of the site, thereby announcing the app's
availability to the Internet Tablet Talk community. Anyone can then
view the thread where a link is provided to download or read the full
details of the app. Members can then provide feedback on the thread,
report bugs, as well as suggest improvements. Developers can then reply
back and provide support. When it's time to release a new version of
the app, the developer just add it to the database, and a new thread is
again created.

What kind of apps are available?
Right now there are none, since we are starting from scratch.
Currently, we have just added two major categories categories to test
the system out — OS2008 and Desktop. The subcategories for each one
were intentionally patterned from the Maemo.org Downloads section so
Developers will have an easier way classifying their apps. We are
encouraging developers to add the latest version of their apps as soon
as possible.

I'm a developer, how can I add my app?

Only registered Internet Tablet Talk members can add or upload files to the software section. If you haven't registered, register now, it's free.

If you intend to add an app to the database, it is advised that you
are the developer or part of the development team of the app. You also
have to join the Developers group so you can get the permission to add apps. Joining the Developers group is for free and you only need to do it once.

Internet Tablet Talk is happy to directly host files, but it's
advisable to use the 'Link' option rather than 'Upload.' This will make
it easier for you to maintain the files from one central location. If
you have bandwidth problems hosting the files, feel free to upload them
instead.

If you want to suggest a new category, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Feedback is very much appreciated. As always, if you have
suggestions on improving the Internet Tablet Talk Software section,
please feel free to suggest them.
