the answer to the identification problem is by querying the xrandr x11 extension library.<br><br><a href="http://www.xfree86.org/current/Xrandr.3.html">http://www.xfree86.org/current/Xrandr.3.html</a><br><br>Kamen correctly points out however that a user with the default installation of maemo does not need to query this interface, there is only 1 possible default orientation: landscape.<br>
<br>Future versions of maemo will hopefully have a fully working xrandr implementation and allow rotation to be queried and controlled in the default system.<br><br>*note to nokians reading, PLEASE make sure this works and also confirm that XV rotates correctly as well ;)*<br>
