</p></div></blockquote><div><br></div><div>It’s already happening automatically, it’s just that we DO have a lot of packages now, even without the old ones. To see the old version purging in action see for example the history of <a href="http://maemo.org/packages/view/conboy/">http://maemo.org/packages/view/conboy/</a> . The apt dir also got moved to /opt, which probably slowed it down a bit in exchange for a lot more space or the rootfs. And last, but not least, the extras-devel Packages file is a solid 14MB nowadays (curse them icons !), which takes time to get parsed/processed/updated no mater how you slice it.<br>
