Primarily because to be secure, the PSK needs to be random, and an easy-to-remember password would also make it vulnerable to a dictionary attack: http://wifinetnews.com/archives/002452.html and because I'm lazy and /dev/urandom is easier to use for a random key rather than a random "passphrase" :-) BTW, does the 770 support EAP-PEAP and/or EAP-TLS?
