Greetings,
I seem to have finally found an mplayer binary which works reasonably
well on the 770 (thanks to Alexander Chukov):

get the ipk from here:
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/Zaurus-5000D-5500/

You will also need libffmpeg, libmad, lame from the same place. The .ipk
are compressed tar archives inside of compressed tar archives. Extract
the binaries and copy them to appropriate places in the 770 filesystem.
You will of course need xterm to actually start the program. Also, it
doesn't hurt to have an ssh connection going to kill mplayer if
something goes wrong. To test:

mplayer -vo sdl -fs -ao sdl -channels 1 -framedrop -quiet
MyDocs/.videos/IceAge2_trailer.avi
