Be more specific, what you mean:
- Available background images
- Available themes
   - Graphics
   - Colors
- Fonts
- Icons
- Transparency
- Home applets themselves
- Something else
?

And what in them is "ugly"?

I myself prefer the new look over any of the previous ones
(IMHO the 770 latest release themes were also quite nice).
