I've only just started using it on my N770 with OS 2006.  (I think the 2nd to last release).  Performance is very responsive, and I'd say faster than my palm.  But the last Palm I had was a Sony Clie with 16MB of storage and color.  Ran OS 3.5 (I think that's right, it's been a long time, as you can see)
