That is the most probable explanation, but I think it's worth mentioning that this error message may result from various errors in the Email client: As I've understood it, "Recipient not found" actually means "server returned error at RCPT TO stage" -- user can then make educated guesses as to which error it actually was: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201 tcpdump or server logs are probably the only way to be sure -- trying a known good server like gmail might be good first option though.
