What does this even mean? Maemo (it's capitalized, by the way) is a  
Nokia product, so what you mean to say is "Nokia doesn't care". Which,  
truthfully, I don't buy. It's not that they don't care, it's that in a  
world of finite resources, you tend to prioritize on those things  
which are important to your primary intended customer--that being  
internet, communication, and multimedia.
