Maybe, I never noticed. There are two things ways touches can be used in xterm: * selecting text * panning the scrollback buffer That icon lets you switch between the two. When there's no scrollback buffer (e.g. when a console app uses the VT100 escape sequence to switch to the alternate screen), there's no icon.
