Did the last step too. Here is patched kernel module for OS2008/diablo 
http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/g_file_storage.ko. No idea whether it works 
or not.

Quickest way to try is to check how it is done in 
/usr/sbin/osso-usb-mass-storage-*.sh scripts and add 'cdrom' to insmod 
line and point it to iso image instead of mmc card.
