thanks for the reply and the bug split.  apologies for the double, i am not
entirely clear on which componets are freedesktop and which are maemo,
apparently...  i'll watch the otyher bug as well.

wrt your question on sametime support, it is more properly name
purple-protocol-sametime and requires libmeanwhile1.

aws i can't even seem to copy/paste out of app mgr, here are the details of
what i have installed from dpkg (these may not be RTCOMM components - i iwsh
the repo was visible in the details):
