As far as I can remember, the problem was when a Server said it was XMPP1.0 but
provided no SASL-mechanism. Reading the comment in the codefragment it seems to
me the code is aware of such a situation now.
My test case (jabber.ccc.de) has switched to SASL in the meantime.
