As a temporary workaround you merge up to 1000 contacts files into one VCF
files and import the resulting file. Something like this should work:

 $ "cd MyDocs/.documents/Exported Contacts"
 $ cat *.vcf > ../merged.vcf

Hmm. Should quickly write a tiny application for maemo-extras doing this
automatically.
