A general search function for contacts is pretty much standard nowadays, both
on PC and smartphones. In Symbian s60 there is a search function for the whole
device (also absent from Maemo) which allows you to drill down to contacts
only. I have tried to provide two examples of practical cases why you would
want this functionality in the actual bug report.
