Let me go into more detail for you: Imagine you put in all the restaurants you
like all over the world in your device; a colleague says can you recommend a
good restaurant in Bombay: with a search function for all fields you can. Or
you remember the street of a new restaurant but not the name. Similarly, you
may want to check off whether you have mailed all your 58 contacts at Shell
regarding a new development, but cannot remember their 58 names. With a search
function which includes the city field you could.

The question is much rather why you think users would be happy with a limited
search function on their mobile computer.
